About First Impressions and YourSafeChild.com
Our company, First Impressions, was incorporated
in 1998. At that time we provided a basic child identification
booklet which enabled parents to
easily create a detailed record of their child's personal and
medical information,
for use if the child was ever missing or
abducted. In 1999, we decided to expand to serve the entire country, and
YourSafeChild.com became our online
presence.
In November 2000, we updated our booklet and
branded it the ChildPrint ID Kit®. Cutomers nationwide have complimented ChildPrint's
aesthetics, low cost, and comprehensive contents.
In May 2001, we introduced Safe Shoes Child ID™,
an innovative product created by a mom in New York. She wanted
to give her children a "secret weapon" if they were
ever lost or endangered. Safe Shoes enables children to get help
in
such a high stress situation, where they may forget their telephone
number, or even their parents' names. This essential product is a part of our ChildPrint ID Kit®, and is also available
as a kit, as well as in packages of 250 pairs of labels.
In September 2001, we introduced the ChildPrint
ID Card™, a wallet-sized version of the ChildPrint ID Kit®,
designed to be carried by parents and caregivers. The ID card
has become extremely popular because it's portable,
yet extremely
comprehensive.
In October 2002, we introduced Spanish versions
of the ChildPrint ID Kit® and the ChildPrint ID Card™.
In February 2003, we introduced the Adventures
In Safety's Journey of the Steal-Proof Master. Woven into a
fantasy
story, this full-length movie teaches children about the common
abduction lures in a fun and fascinating way.
It was produced
by a well-known Connecticut martial arts teacher, and is an excellent
resource for parents, children,
and educators.
In April 2003, we introduced Toothprints®
Bite Impressions. Toothprints® records a child's dental
characteristics for use in identification,
and has won international acclaim for its ability to trap DNA
from saliva.
Toothprints® is now an optional component of
our ChildPrint ID Kit®, and we were the first child identification
company authorized to include Toothprints® in an ID kit.
2004 was a very busy year, although no new products
were added. We moved to a new location which expanded
our printing
and shipping capabilities. Now we are better able to process and
ship most orders within a day of receipt.
2005 was our biggest year of growth. In March we partnered with Carlie's Crusade, a non-profit organization
based in New York, in the memory of Carlie Bruscia, a young girl abducted and murdered in Florida. In August, we
partnered with Retro Bill, the official DARE school spokesperson, and produced a custom kit for the DARE program. Bill speaks year long at conferences and schools, and is introducing our kit to police, FBI, and DEA departments throughout
the country. To round out the year, our website also got a new look in October, providing visitors with easier access to information and simplified ordering.
In 2006, we partnered with Subway® and created a custom kit which was distributed in stores throughout the Midwest. Subway® is continuing the promotion in February 2007, as well as in May 2007.
A special note: Our products are assembled
by a group of wonderful people at United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia.
Much of the credit for our success goes to them, and they are deeply appreciated by everyone at
First Impressions.
